Sorry for the late reply everyone. It's been a hectic week. I really do not have any bills I can cut. And like I said I work for the cable company so my bill for cable internet and phone is next to nothing. Less than $10. Plus I have 2 asthmatic children so I cannot be without a phone. And I feel we made the right choice in moving, if we had not moved our rent would be over $250 more per month than what we are paying now. Our issue started with that large heating bill. And we were on a payment plan but our power company switched hands and they took us out of our payment arrangement. We are back on one now, but it is more than double what it was to start off with. But based on all of your responses I agree bankruptcy is not the answer. If either my husband or I get another job that money would mainly be going to whoever would watch our kids. We do not work the same shift right now, they overlap somewhat so we pay for daycare for those very few hours. so there really is no good financial way to do that. I have been trying to sell things on Craigslist. I am going to keep working on that. I haven't had much luck sadly. A lot of people trying to scam me though. Now I have to put cash only on all my postings. I am hoping that when we get our income taxes we can pay some things off and get back on track. Thank you for your help everyone.

Sorry if my post was not clear. Based on what you all are saying maybe it is better for me not to file. I have a LOT of things in collections that I cannot pay on. I would love to, but I cannot. What I meant about getting caught up were my everyday bills. My rent is fine, I put that money first before any other bills. I am behind on daycare, a little behind on my car, and behind on my electric. Those right now are the only bills we really have. I get a discount on my cable/internet/phone because I work for the company. I had been trying to refinance my car but at this point, would it just be better to pay it off if I get a tax refund? I have to see how much I have left on it to pay off, but because our credit was bad our interest rate for our car has been 24% for the whole time we have had it. If I was to refinance it I know it would cut it in half but because of our credit score no one will refinance with us. Which I understand. Maybe I posted this in the wrong section. Our bills are more than our income at the moment. I am sorry if this is rambling, I am multi-tasking. If I left any information out please let me know.

Hello everyone. I apologize in adavance for the long post. I used to be on these boards a few years ago. I actually had gotten my credit score up over 600 which was my goal at the time! I was so proud of myself. Then things went to crap. I'm back down to low 500's again. I'll give some background. We were renting an apartment that raised the rent almost $100 a month every year when we resigned our lease. For 2 years we were on a waiting list for a better place. Bigger, and cheaper rent. Well we got a call a little over 2 years ago that we were finally next on the waiting list, but we only had 2 weeks to get in! We had no money to move. Our car was almost paid off. Well we borrowed against our car loan to get some money for a security deposit, first month's rent, moving expenses, and money to break our previous lease. It worked out. At that time I also qualified for credit cards, so I used that for expenses like furniture and bills. And we had no issues paying those on time. Our credit was looking great. Then we had issues with a very large heating bill and things went downhill from there. We got pretty much caught up on those. I was on maternity leave and I had to be out longer than normal so I got a few paychecks that were about $200 for two weeks. There was no way we could live off that. So we took out payday loans. (Bad idea I know!!) We paid those off. But ever since then, we've been trying to play catch up on all of our other bills. We usually end up with our account being negative after every pay. Then we have to wait 2 weeks for money. For instance I get paid Friday. I will not have breakfast or lunch until then. I got enough food for dinner for us each night (my kids have breakfast and lunch at school). We do not qualify for assistance because we "make too much". We do not take home a lot at all. Okay sorry for the novel. I feel we are just in way over our heads and I do not know what else to do. We have no family to help. My husband has more than half of his bad debts being removed from his credit report in 2013. I am not sure whether to file jointly or just file alone. We also have no money for an attorney yet we do not qualify for free legal help. We cannot afford to file bankruptcy! Is that crazy? Also we have another year to pay off our car, though we are hoping if we get a tax refund this year that we could pay it off with that and maybe we will not have to file. Does anyone have any ideas?

I have to mail in my identification to get my free credit reports. I pay for Experian, but it is not showing me the DOFD?? Is there anywhere in particular I should be looking? Once I get my free reports I will report back. As far as the mobile account, it was delinquent (account was closed) as for July 2006, so it's been almost 3 years. This is the account that they keep selling to different CA's. All of these accounts except for the medical are from Maryland, but I have moved to Pennsylvania since. Which should I go by? Account 4 is being reported by the OC but I believe I paid their personal collection department, they hadn't sold it off yet. I will post the other info once I get it. Thanks!!

Here are my two collection accounts that are outstanding. Neither of the Original Creditors have anything on my report. Since they are collection accounts they only show when they purchased the account, not when I was orginally reported. Also the T-Mobile one was bought from another CA so does that mean it will fall off 7 years from the date the NEW CA purchased the account? Because this is the 3rd time it has been sold. Bank of America is also showing a credit card that I paid off, but they show a 0 balance, but the credit agency removed it from my report. Thanks for replying so quickly! I actually do have a credit card that I have been paying on time for almost a year, and an auto loan that I've been paying on time for over a year. The rest are student loans that are defferred because I am currently in school, and I have 2 collection accounts left to pay. I guess I just don't know exactly what to look for to improve my score because I have read on here that whether they are paid or not doesn't raise my score. I think because I'm so young, I haven't had a chance to have accounts for very long.

Hello Everyone, I am new here. I would like to tell you all my story. I was a freshman in college with no job, but I had money. I had no problem paying the little bills I did have (credit card, phone). I did not need to work at the time, plus I didn't have time to because I was going to school full time. My fiancee got a job, but it was not enough to pay our bills, so I had to use my money. Well long story short, the money ran out. I was pregnant and was put on bed rest so I could not work. My fiancee tried so hard to get money for us by working 3 jobs, but it still wasn't enough. We both had a few bills go to collections because we had no money. We were barely eating. We had no family helping us. We finally moved to a different state after I had my daughter and I got a job. He was off work for 4 months while we tried to figure out daycare, then he got a job. Things were going well for awhile. Then I got sort of a pay cut and for over a year now, our income is less than our bills. I want to refinance our car, but I can't because of my credit. We can't find a cheaper place to live because ours is one of the cheapest out there. My cable internet and phone bill are REALLY cheap because I work for the cable/internet/phone company Our other bills are just daycare and utilities, so there isn't much I can cut back from there. Anyway, my bills are always paid on time, but I have 2 things in collections that need to be paid and I want to pay them off but I never have the extra money. Right now my experian score is 521, my equifax FICO score is 574 and I do not know my transunion because I have to pay for that one and I do not want to do that right now. I want to get my scores to above 600 and I'm hoping this forum can help me. I know you probably need more information, but if anyone has any advice it would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks so much!!

Yeah, it's a great town to live in! And I refuse to give up. I have 2 things left in collections to pay off, then my fiancee has 3 things left. Our main thing is that we are so young and we haven't established enough credit history. But we have an auto loan that we have been paying on time for a year and the same with a credit card. We are hoping to hit the 600's before the year is over!

I had the same issue. I was late because I was out of school for almost two years. I also had my payments deferred for a year. After that my payments were late, but then I was back in school so my payments were deferred until graduation. For some reason, they deleted all my previous history. It is only showing the delinquent on one of my reports. This is through Direct Loans (Department of Education). Maybe I just got lucky, but it seems possible

I did not know about this since I just joined the forums today. I have a medical bill that went to collections and it is paid. They said that they cannot remove it from my report. I'm not sure if this is the process I have to go through to get it removed? I am just very confused. Is the med collection on your reports? yes Is it paid or unpaid? paid If paid, who did you pay, the OC (original creditor: doctor, dentist, hospital, etc.) or the CA (collection agency)? CA If unpaid, do you have the money to pay it off in full? NA Do you remember the date(s) of treatment? yes Have you ever disputed the med collection? If yes, when and how? no. I got two separate bills for the same visit and I thought I only owed one of them. When it showed up on my report I called and they said I owed it. If you did dispute the collection, is it currently marked as "disputed and/or verified" on your report(s)? na Have you ever requested debt validation from the CA?
