FYI... Haggling down from MSRP is pointless. When you haggle for a new car you need to know the invoice price of the vehicle. Depending on which a state you live in you can view invoice prices for most vehicles on KBB on NADAGUIDES websites.  Also; understand that the invoice price does not show you other dealer discounts that the dealer gets for volume orders and sales etc from the manufacturer. Same thing for used vehicles. Look at KBB  and NADAGUIDES for clean trade in prices. This is what you should use when you decide on the price to pay on a vehicle.  Most lenders use this when looking to board loans and that's how loan to value guidelines are determined. So... I am assuming the 1773 is including taxes correct? Also factor in HOA fees if any are involved. So you were approved for $225K, is that how much you are going to buy for as well? $700 extra is a lot, considering you will also have to keep some money on the side for repairs and emergency's. Is distance to and from work going to change? You mentioned you have company cars, do they cover GAS and TOLLS also?   You will probably need to buy additional furniture for the home as well. If you have a large stash of savings 6 Months + mortgage savings and you have a little play money left after all bills are paid then I guess 1773 is not that bad.  You don't want to change your whole lifestyle just to pay the mortgage.   What area are you buying in? ...
