Most tap water has tough Public Health standards to meet, bottled water not.   Unless you have a know health issue with your tap water, the only reason I would buy bottled water would be for taste, or really old plumbing.  My tap water does not taste good, I have a filtration system in my refrigerator door water, so if I am drinking it, making coffee or its for the dogs, it goes thru the fridge.  If I didn't have that I would use something like a britta.   I personally try to stay away from individually bottled water, not just from the environmental issues, but I don't like the plastic taste.  Plus, most water sold like that is more expensive then gas! ... If I give a gift card, I try to give something related....movie rental gift card or netflix attached to microwave popcorn or movie candy, nursery card with a small plant or pair of gardening gloves, gas card with a tire gauge.   Have also purchased puzzle boxes to put a gift card in.   I guess it depends on what its for and how much you want to spend.   Another idea would be a donation to someone in their name...or something from the heifer project or similar idea.  ... I would talk to your lender to see if they will offer something, otherwise a mortgage broker.  I just finished a FHA streamline, went from 5.375 adjustible to 3.5 fixed....lowered payments almost 400 on a $252,000 (remaining)...just finalized yesterday.  I went thru a mortgage broker, and we ended up with Wells, which who is my original lender.  Made things very simple.  I have slipped a little in my credi since purchasing 5 years ago.  Was easy peasy (as someone else said).  Not only was there nothing out of pocket, I ended up with $500.00 refund from my escrow account.  Is fun going into my account and seeing its paid in full....of course not showing the new mortgage yet. ... 2005 Jetta loaded, love my heated seats and mirrors.  I have had to replace the transmission (for a lot more than 2-3,000).  165000 miles, needs a/c fixed (works, fan only works sporadically, and its gets HOT here), trunk stuck closed, thinking of a new car...but I still love this one.  Will be taking in next week to get everything fixed.  Maybe 1-2 years to replace.  Still love Gretta the Jetta. ... Wow, I had no idea that the Direct Deposit Advance would count, I use to use them all the time, I am guessing I had used them around the time I applied for my original mortgage with Wells.  Once I bought my house, they got me into a Prime Checking, pretty binder (seriously, they thought that was a big deal)...it wasn't till about 6 months later when I tried to use a DDA that I found out that the Prime Checking Account didn't have them!  I would talk to someone and just tell them right up what the issue is. ...
