Took this year off from college(will return in the fall), to rebuild my credit and secure a car. But right now in my small town in jersey and nearby areas, there are literally no jobs(from the already small pool of jobs that college students qualify for), unless I have a car to get to them. Also no help from relatives ![]()
Myfico reports 667 equifax(about 2 year credit history thus far)
no baddies
current student loan with no late payments
1 cc with zero balance or negative information
The problem is dealers and lenders need to see verifiable income to even get into a car. I need a car to get a job, but I also need a job so I can report the income. If I can get some type of loan and get a car, I can get a job fairly easily and I would not care if it is a beater. I feel like I will be stuck in this loop forever, do I have any other options?
Not even the lowest level 'buy here/pay here' used car dealers will do in house financing without income. You simply are too much of a risk to loan money to on the basis that you will 'probably' get a job once you get the loan. Save a grand, get a beater. What about a night shift somewhere that you can borrow a family car while they are at home and sleeping?

yeah I figured that's my only option at this point as far as I know. And unfortunately I don't have any family members who can lend me their car
I have to agree with Jutz here. No lender is going to loan you money to buy a car without income or the pretence that you "may" get a job. A lender needs income to determine your spending power. I'm not sure what city you live in but you may want to consider public transit or carpool for now.
