I am waiting for a chunk of money in about 6-8 months but in the meantime I need to spend about 22k now. My fico score is 825 and I do have a Discover card with 26k limit and a Amex with a 30k limit with no balances. I DO NOT want to use these cards for my own reasons, I just want to get a new card. What card will give me the best chance to get a opening limit of 20k-25k? I have only one "hard" pull on my report now so I don't want to get any more inquiries by applying for cards that won't achieve my goal. Thanks Ron
Are you eligible for NFCU membership?
I was never in the military if that's what you mean.
First tech Odyssey, lowest SL is $25,000 and tops out at $100,000. They pull EX and will prompt you to apply for a card during the application for membership.
Based on my original post do you see me having any problems getting this card?
For initial limits above $25k here is my experiences:
Me:
Chase IHG - $33k
Cap One Venture - $30k
Citi Hilton - $25k
Wife:
Amex Delta Gold - $25k
Chase Sapphire Preferred - $33k
Chase Hyatt - $36k

I would suggest the Chase Reserve card, and I don't see why any issuer won't honor it based on that score and those two cards being prime lenders. Also if they don't give an SL of 25k then attempt to call and ask them why and to raise it.
If you don't care if it's a store card, Lowes Home Improvement. No matter what SL they give you, when you get the card in your hands call Credit Solutions and ask for $35,000.

Unless the $22K he needs to spend is for something that Lowes does or carries, the card won't do him much good regardless of the limit.
