Is it me only! Last Minute NOT pulling the trigger....Applicationphobia!

OK, so how many of us have this.  You can't stop filling out credit card application online, BUT when it comes down to submitting the actual app, you stop yourselves because of fear of inqs, low CL, or outright denials.  I swear I have filled out about 5 applications in the last month, but just when it was time to hit the submit button, fear took over and stopped me!  I'm glad it did...my scores would probably be lower than they are right now, and I need a car!  Just filled out an NFL Rewards card app....but clicked the little red x in the browser just to stop myself again! SMH....wish I could stay in the garden, but I'm like Adam - and these credit cards are forbidden fruit!

HAHA! I recently finished an app spree and am going through withdraws in the garden now.  lol The only prescription (beside's more cow bell) is to read about others applying and occasionally filling out an app and not submitting.  Smiley Happy

I've done that with those SCT's.  I believe that's what everyone calls them?  I just did the one with J.Crew.  I only fill out an app if I'm going through with it.  Or I'll check the prequalify's.  Now I'm in the process of cancelling my lower limit useless cards and going to garden.  I'll work on growing what I'm keeping & trying my best to get a score of at least 825.  I got 120k of credit in 7 months.  Not bad & we need it for our business.  I didn't look last night when I filled out the second Venture card!  Kept my hands over my face! Smiley Very Happy

Funny, you have to cover your face.  I try to just "squint" at the screen....LOL  Just got my first Venture approval yesterday.  But since I qualified for it, my little brain (the credit one) says "let's see what else you qualify for!"  Yet my rational, fearful side says "not worth it...gonna mess your scores up, etc."  Luckily, I am "mostly" a rational person!

I get that way too. Even when I go through with pushing the apply button I have to look away from the screen Smiley Happy

I calm my need to app by checking the pre-qual sites. I usually don't get prequaled for anything, so just getting a pre-qual offer feels as good as an approval at this point. It's a little better, because I end up thinking "yeah, I could get it if I wanted it, but I don't want it". Boosts my ego and keeps my inquiries low. lol

So I'm not the only one looking away!  Smiley Wink  I did get that let's try it again feeling but it is disminishing.  I feel the need to garden for a while & work on my score.  Just need to get over the 800 mark. I think I have enough ammo now to do it.

Re: Is it me only! Last Minute NOT pulling the trigger....Applicationphobia!

The high of getting approved is incredibly addictive but eventually the denials outnumber the approvals and it could be downright depressive. If I fill out an app, I won't be able to stop my self from hitting the submit button so I don't even go near any online app for now. While I'm in the garden, I set a goal and a reward for myself:  when I get to 760s accross the board, I will allow myself to apply for the Chase Marriott. Whether I reach that goal by the end of this year or next, I won't get my reward until I hit the 760s. And that's what keeps me sane and focused.

Re: Is it me only! Last Minute NOT pulling the trigger....Applicationphobia!

A lot of my friends ask me for credit advice, I live vicariously through their apps. Sunday, I was with a friend, she apped for a Discover card and was denied. But when she hit "SUBMIT" I said this the most exciting part "the wait". She was denied, but thats another story. People are so prideful sometimes, "no, verizon sucks, im not paying them a penny" she said. Ok, have $1900 collection on your file (one of many she had no idea about), your life, not mine.
