Macy's: Denied because of income. Recon advice?

I applied for a Macy's card the other day, and I got the 7-10 day message, not a denial. Today, I got a denial in the mail. There was only one reason for denial, and this is it: "Total credit oblications when compared to the total annual income you provided."

I'm gonna call for a recon, but is there any advice you guys can offer for when I call?

Do you know what you debt to income is? (The percent of your monthly credit payments compared to your monthly income)

It's gonna be hard to recon your income as a denial reason. What you make is what you make, unless you entered it wrong on your application. i.e 5000.00 instead of 50,000.00

What is your income? Because without knowing your income, it will be hard to offer advice.

I was denied for Macy store card due to many inquires. I only have 9 in two years. Is there a way to recon ?
