Hi all,
I have a pre-existing relationship with U.S. bank by having their Kroger 1-2-3 rewards card for a year now. I decided to check their prequalify card offers and it gave me 3 card options, all had a set APR and not a APR range.. but there was no red banner. Does that mean it's not a real pre approval? All the threads I found about the the topic said there had to be a red banner and a firm APR for it to be a true pre approval.. but I'm wondering if maybe they got rid of the red banner? Normally a firm APR is a good enough sign it's a real offer. Would appreciate some info, thank you!

I went to their website and got the same thing. There are two offers with a solid APR but it does say pre-qualified vs pre-approval. Not sure if that makes a difference since I am not familiar with US Bank. I'm not going to apply, as it's not something I'm interested in at the moment. But just wanted to add my data point.
Please let us know if you pull the trigger. I'd like to know if this is solid in case I decide to app in the future.

Well now I checked and put in my DH's info into the prequal site and got a wide range of APR's as his result, so now I'm REALLY debating on pulilng the trigger cause that seems to confirm that it's a real prequal. I read on the threads around here that it's a lot easier to get a card with them if you already have an existing relationship.
Now the question is.. when I go for it, do I go for the one that has the best 0% intro offer and lowest APR once the introductory offer begins but no ongoing perks, or go for the one that has rewards/cash back and a slightly higher APR. Hmmmm.

This is interesting because I don't have a relationship with this bank.
I would definitely go for the best 0% offer. Keep us posted.

They are soft pulling your TU either his is frozen or not good enough.. If you have offer they are softing your TU and you have a "chance" as nothing is guranteed in the credit world. I have confirmed they soft pull each day you do it against TU report as have looked at my softs and they line up with theirs being US Bank softs. Whether they actually pull TU for your applciation is another story though. Also knowing US Bank is ultra conversative do you want to possibly be stuck with a 500 CL? I don't know your profile well enough, so I can't answer whether this is good or bad for you

Well, his report is not frozen, and his score is about 15 points above mine *shrug*. So I assume it has to do with the fact I already have a Kroger rewards card with them for a year now, and since from what I understand they really like you having a pre-existing relationship with them, be it banking account or another card. DH has no accounts with them at all.
They recently redid their pre-qualification site and the red banner is no longer there. If you have a firm interest rate, you should be ok...I had one for cash+ signature visa and was instantly approved.
Here is my experience with the link and the Bank itself:
1. Customer service just blows my mind, seems like everyone i talk to is having a bad day
2. Doesn't matter what time of the day i call, it's always a 15 minute wait to talk to someone
3. Filled out the pre-qual boxes and got three CCs with a set APR. I picked up the Cash+ with a $100 bonus after spending $500 in 90 days. I started to meet the spending and decided to call and make sure the offer was in my account. Well, to my surprise, it wasn't. They told me to send in screen shots (which i did) and still a no. Complaint with CFPB and they said that offer is for targeted audience...ok, so why is it on the website for everyone to apply?
Really bad bank, i think they leave that offer up there for people to join so US Bank makes money on new accounts, then they deny the offers hoping the customer will forget about it and stay. It's not even about the $100 anymore, but the principle. I don't like it when Banks (or anyone for that matter) takes advantage of people or lies about things. I will be closing my accounts with US Bank as soon as my $29 payment clears.
