Interesting, how can you tell if card company does hard or soft pull?

Interesting that you got those increases in such a short amount of time. I was told that I couldn't get an increase for 6 months after receiving an increase. In January I got the 3x CLI on the BCE and immediately applied for the Amex ED. 61 days later I'm told I can't get the 3x on the new card, because I've had an increase on a product within a 6 months period. So I'm not eligible to get an increase on any product until July.

Well that’s because it wasn’t 5 days:

Used it a little. Forgot about it.
Last week I get a email about a auto CLI to $6000
I log into my account and try the 3x thing and get approved for $18000. (Maybe I could have been approved for more?)

Sounds to me that the time he forgot was at least 181 days

Re: AMEX from $2000 to $18000 in 5 days . Capital one stuck at $850

Amex considers all credit cards held by an individual as a single account.  The rule is one credit line increase for an account every 180 days.  So the reason you did not get the CLI on the Everyday card is because less than 180 days had elapsed since you had gotten one on your BCE.

You can find tons of useful information on how Amex works in this thread:  The Definitive Amex 3X CLI Guide

I also have a Platimum AMEX and I can "check my spending" and get approved for $80,000

So I guess AMEX is okay with me now?

My credit score is not amazing at the moment at 728 with 30-60-90 day lates from two years ago

Chase and bank of america auto CLI me

Discover I apply for a CLI every month and they always approve me

Everytime I apply for a CLI with Captial one they deny me, I have no lates and never burned them

Congrats on all of the upgrades.

That said, there's more than one way to skin a cat, so to speak. Apply anew, for something like Venture, and see what you get. Sometimes, you can get stuck with limited products. - Venture is a lot less limited.

However, you may not even need them, at this point... when considering the double or triple pull.

The OP wording is so confusing. It reads like he got an email telling him of his auto increase and then immediately asked for another.

Re: AMEX from $2000 to $18000 in 5 days . Capital one stuck at $850

The OP received an auto-CLI from Amex.  Then he requested a 3X CLI.  That's allowable by Amex; an auto-CLI from Amex does not affect the customer's ability to ask for one on their own and its not limited by the 180 day rule.  People here do it frequently especially if they were in the "credit steps"program.  They wait until 6 statement cuts for the 2X auto-CLI from Amex, then apply for the 3X CLI.

Your situation is different.  You asked for, and received a CLI on an existing card. Then you opened a new card and after 60 days requested a CLI on the new card.  A customer can only request a CLI every 180 days regardless of the number of cards attached to their Amex account.

I did not know I had to post proof

Is this good enough for you?

Email for 3/6/2018 about my 6k cl

Credit line today (less than 181 days of course)

60k spending check on my other card

And yes I got that email about the auto CLI. And I requested a 3x after that. My CL was 2k before

OP, thanks for this interesting post. So that we're all clear, after you received the 2x cli to $2000, you say you used it a little and forgot about it. How much time lapsed between you getting your limit raised to $2K and you receiving the auto cli to $6k? I appreciate your time clarifying.

Starting Score (May 2017): 584 TU
Current Scores: 752 TU, 717 EQ, 750 EX

  1. Firstly, I never asked  you for proof, I was not disputing your limit increase. I just didn't understand the steps you took and the time that elapsed. Another poster posted about the credit steps program, something I didn't know anything about. I understand your post now. I'm only eligible to ask every 6 months, so perhaps I can get an auto, but I won't hold my breath on that,
