Apporama suggestions - Need Pro Advice

Hello,

So I went on a cc app spree.

June 2015
Amex Blue Cash - auto UW
Chase Sapphire Preferred - auto UW
**Did not meet minimum spend for bonus**
Discover It - letter - eventually approved

Didn’t have much credit prior to June but did have an excellent payment history with Capital One for a little over 2 years and several student loans with a good payment history. I was elated! I’m sure many of you remember that first cc with clout. It felt like that 3 times over.

Naturally, I wanted to repeat that experience again. Then, less than 2 years later, I went on a true Apporama (verbiage I’ve been learning here).

February of 2017
Chase Sapphire Reserve - auto UW
Chase Southwest RR Plus - auto UW
Chase United Mileage Plus Exp - 7/10 day
letter. called to xfer partial cl from Reserve to United limit. Approved. Downgraded sapphire preferred to Freedom 5% category.
**waited for approval then went for Amex**
Amex Delta Gold - auto UW
Amex Hilton HHonors - auto UW
Discover It Miles - auto UW
Barclaycard Arrival + - needed to confirm identity. Sent copies of passport, drivers license, and SSN card to Wilmington DE. Approved.
CapitalOne Venture - Denied
**removed from CR via FCRA letters**
Upgraded CapitalOne Platinum to Quicksilver

Construction ends in August for the new house, hazaa! I’m planning another Apporama shortly after close before the house tanks my credit report. This time it needs to be EPIC.

So what are you looking for in your future cards? Buying a home? Lowes would be at the top of the list, if you have one in the area! Limits grow fast on soft pulls after the initial approval.

Great suggestion! I have a Home Depot, Lowes, and Menards relatively near. Which would be best in your opinion? Do all 3 offer soft pull CLI’s?

For the record, it’s great to finally chat with you guys! Been reading your responses and questions for over a year now. This forum is a wealth of knowledge

Re: Apporama suggestions - Need Pro Advice

I've only walked through a Menards. Very nice store! I don't know anything about their cards or processes.

Out of Lowes and HD, I'll give the nod to Lowes. UW through Synchrony was cake IME. If you're app in store, there's a good chance they'll pull EX. If you app online, it's a 99% chance it will be TU. They'll SP TU for future CLIs.
HD is serviced by Citi bank. They are much more conservative. Limits grow slower and normally start relatively low.

Lol, i kinda figured thats what instant UW meant but i think its best to say instant approval or went to review then approved. It can confuse our members. Lol, it cinfused me haha.

If you had to choose between Lowes and HD, id choose Lowes for their sp cli increases over the hp heavy HD. If i had a Lowes near me id dump HD like yesterdays Credit OneSmiley Wink

We need more information...

It looks like you've got a pretty good collection already.  What's your motivation for getting more?

What do you want from your cards?  What kind of rewards are you after?  Do you want airline miles or points? cash back? balance transfers?  Are you just chasing signup bonuses or are you wanting keeper cards?  What is your spending like?  Are there some merchants that get most of your spend?  Do you travel a lot?  Where do you want to go?

I hear ya. It seems Lowes is the choice for home improvement and SP Clis.
