South Florida has a very transient population. Very, very few folks are actually from South Florida. (I have long term connections to the State of Florida, a rarity in itself, but not South Florida.) As such there is little sense of obligation to others or the community as a whole. There is much crime and corruption. It is very difficult to find a reliable honest contractor who one can rely on to complete a project on schedule and within budget. When was the last time they arrested someone without a medical license for directly injecting industrial silicone into someone's body where you live? It happens all the time here. The worst part is there had to be a buyer as well as a seller for that transaction to occur. Same with all those marginal mortgages that led to the rapid inflation and equally rapid deflation of out real estate prices. And BTW, Bernie Madoff lived in Palm Beach County. Flakey, you betcha.
