I think thats the largest limit I have ever heard of anyone being issued up front from Cap1.
I was rather stunned as well.

A few months ago, my college student daughter was approved for a Cap One No Hassle Cash Rewards card with $15,000 CL.
Whoa! Amazing! Did she have to prove her income?
$15000??? for a college student? I doubt it.
I have 2500 and I had my card since 1999.
I think he had his daughter as an AU on multiple accounts and her scores were nearly 800
My first CapOne card was in Oct, 2006. CL was $18K. The have not given me a CLI increase. Interest rate recently raised from 5.99% to 15.9%.
My second one was a CapOne Business. It was opened April, 2008 with a Cl of $20K. Interest has always been 9.99%.
They were more generous with initial CL than Discover, who gave me an original CL of $10K in Jan, 2008. They did give me a CLI to $15K in Nov, 2009.
card is 3 years old started with 500 to 750 now at 4750
DW has a CL of $25K. After events of the last two years, I expect the CLs that CapOne hands out these days are generally smaller than 5-10 years ago, and the vast majority continues to be fairly toy-sized ...
I am 22 years old and opened my capital one card in 2005 the MONTH i turned 18...started with a 200.00 limit. and today I am proud to say that without EVER asking for a limit increase it sits at a nice 9,500.00. I love capital one and will always be a loyal customer to them. This is the ONLY card that I have never had to ask for a limit increase.
I've had my CapOne Platinum for 6 years. Started with a $500 CL and 7 months ago they auto CLI'd to $2000. My new Discover approved this week is at $4000, so it looks like I'll be using my Discover a bunch more.
