Fico 660/665 - Update Approved for BofA secured

Never had a credit card. 

My current FICO is EQ 660 and TU 665. 1 student late payment 5 years ago. No other baddies.

Do I HAVE to go the secured route? 

I was thinking of applying for the Bank of America. I've heard of a 99/500 secured offer if you apply for an unsecured card and get denied. Does that go for any of their unsecured cards offered? Is there one unsecured card that is easier to get with them than others? Or would I be better off just applying for a fully secured.

are you a member of a cu? if not take the time and look for a good one in your area print your reports and pay them a visit and see what they can do for you. when building/rebuilding a cu is the best way to go. cap ones newcomers card or what you may call it might approve you with a low limit but they do pull all 3 cr's. cap one is great for building but once you land in prime they have to go bye bye. the 99/500 from boa is not outright guaranteed and its only a counter offer. if you apply for the basic bankamericard and get denied they might counter you with that. they didnt do that with me but your scores are alot better than mine were at the time of app

Thanks for the advice. I am currently a member of our local credit union but they do not offer a secured card

Well I was impatient and applied for the secured....and got the 7-10 day message Does that mean I am denied?

Bank of America secured. Which I am not regretting because I am probably denied. I should have went the credit union route but the one's in my town don't have a secured option. Boo

did you attempt to fund the 300.00 deposit?

Yes - I set it up to withdrawal from my checking account.

this same thing happened to me. call one of the backdoor number listed in the sticky here for them. one of the credit analyst numbers will work they will get you over to the right dept and you can ask them what is going on. i had a large list of baddies when i apped with them and just explained to the analyst that i need to start somewhere and if they could just give me a chance. i dont see why you couldnt get approved being you have zero baddies. the late i wouldnt worry about being its a secured card from them. call tomorrow you might have gotten approved but it doesnt hurt to call that way if you got denied they might overturn the decision
