Re: Question About Pre-Approvals from BOA, Platinum Visa,

Interesting. I don't see any mention of that in the Ts & Cs on their generic website info, located at:

Re: Question About Pre-Approvals from BOA, Platinum Visa,

I had a few lates when I app'd and was approved.  All were at least 3 years old and the worst ones were almost 7.  I was approved for the BofA Amex.  They pulled both EX and TU which have a few differences, but both contain similar derog info.

Which of the BOA Amexes did you get and how do you like it?

It was the Bank of America Rewards™ American Express® Card.  I've had it less than a month so I'm not sure how well I like it yet.  Smiley Happy  I wanted an 'in' with a prime bank and this was it for me.  I figured the concierge service would be really neat -- until I realized that they just pull info from secondary retailers for tickets and stuff.  Gee, I can do that as long as I'm in front of a computer.

So far I'm a bit underwhelmed.  (I'm still in the puppy love phase w/ my Disc More card.)

Well, that's disappointing.  That's one of the main reasons I wanted that card.  I thought I might consider it my "poor man's Amex Platinum."  I posted a thread a couple of months ago asking if anyone had any experience with the BofA MyConcierge service, but only got a couple of takers.

Watchnerd, do you know if the Accolades version uses the same MyConcierge service as the Rewards Amex?

Re: Question About Pre-Approvals from BOA, Platinum Visa,

Sorry Cheese --

I played around with different types of tickets, so that's my only experience with this feature.  The dining and special event perks might be worth a try.  The ultimate access things are really neat.  (However my measly 280 points are not worth much -- ie, it's 95k points to play in a big name golf tournament.)

I was just trying to find the statement about resellers and I can't.  Argh!

I have the BofA Visa Signature, Accolades, and regular Amex Rewards (this is being product changed to a MC) cards. I'm pretty sure all 3 use the same MyConcierge service.

I find MyConcierge most useful for issues where I don't want to or have time to do the leg work. Example: I use it to send flowers to my wife. I tell them where she works, the price range, what color of flowers she likes, delivery date, etc, and they're the ones who do the hunt to find a local florist who meets the criteria and arrange the delivery.

I also used them to buy a Nintendo Wii, which is mostly out of stock everywhere. I had them do the legwork to hunt down someplace with them in stock and have it shipped to me.

I once used them for car detailing: find a guy to pick my car up at work, detail it, and bring it back.

I definitely find it useful, but it's best to use it for purchases that require some time and effort and are easy to delegate.
