Raising credit limit and impact of pulling credit score

I wanted to reduce my %util on one of my credit cards by increasing the limit.  My CC company said they would grant me additional credit, but they would need to pull credit.

The customer service rep said that it wouldn't impact my credit score much since it was only for a credit line increase.  Is that true or false?

A hard inquiry is a hard inquiry.  It will still be viewed as seeking new credit.  Having said this, if you are not planning on buying anything big within the next year it might worth the inquiry hit.

It will only affect your FICO score for 1 year.  Also, they may recode the pull to soft if you ask (doubtful, but worth the time to ask).

Starting Score: 583 EQ, 612 EX, 569 TU
Current Score: 658 EQ, 648 EX, 618 TU
Goal Score: 720 EQ, 720 EX, 720 TU

It depends if it is a soft or gard inq.  soft inq which your lenders can do will not effect score.  I would have her clarify.  It depends on how bad you need the CLI.
