I was talking to the chat rep, and they said I was able to PC my Zync, to Green, PRG, Platinum, obviously I wont get the sign-up bonus, and I believe they will close my oldest card. (I know it stays on my report for 10 years, but for the $25 AF, it could be a card I keep forever instead of just letting it fall off)
so what are the pros of apping for the PRG
I get the sign up bonus
I get to keep the Zync and that tradeline reports as open for a cheap cheap AF
so what are the pros about PC to Green Card
I dont take a hit to my report for a new app
cheaper AF then the PRG (Green-$95 PRG-$175)
Cons for PRG
AF is $175
I cant downgrade the card to a green card withing the first year. (When can I actually downgrade it if I do want too tho?)
Cons of PC'ing to Green
I lose my Zync and that account closes in 10 years
I dont get a sign up bonus
so what do people suggest?? am I missing anything?
I think you're confused about something. If you PC to the Green or another charge card, it won't show that an account has been closed. It'll just continue to report as is. The card is basically the same, the rewards are just different. Only if you close the Zinc and opened a new TL, then yes, it will report as closed and another tradeline would show on your CR but considering that AMEX backdates that's not even an issue.
I think the best would be to wait till the AMEX EVERYDAY card to go live, get that and cancel the ZYNC. Also as PAT said you will get the back dating so very minimal impact.
so my question now would be, if I open the Everyday Card, will I be able to transfer my MR points from my Zync card to my Everyday card so I can transfer them to partners???
or will I still not be able to use any Zync points for transfers.
Depends on what you're after.
An inherent issue with the Green/PRG is the AF, and you need to be able to justify it.
If you primarily want to transfer MR points, then I'd look at the new cards coming out in a few weeks.
If you simply want to have an Amex card, then I'd go for BCP/BCE.
Ill focus on the Everyday card, but I want to know that my 30k Zync points will be able to be transferred to the Everyday card so then I'd be able to transfer those points to Partners.
From most of the discussion i have read new card should be able to warehouse your points and make them full MR 'transferable' ones.
I honestly see no benefit of PCing to another charge card, unless your Zync has some atrocious spending limit.
I say hold off and app for the Everyday.
yeah, thats the plan stan.
just hoping that the info about making all my UR points transferrable is true.
