Decent article about the potential difficulties/liabilities consumers face when using a debit card instead of a credit card in specific situations.

Hi, rbbyrbsn!
I don't agree that this info is outdated, I think it's timeless.
The fact that it is always the availability of the customer's money that's at stake when using a debit card (rather than the credit card company's money) is kinda the point of the whole article.
I've had items double-charged in the past on a debit card account, which almost put me into negative territory. I caught it and straightened it out, but it took about a week before I got the cash back. Had I written checks against that account without seeing the double-charge, they would have bounced, compounding my problems.
I've also had membership fees debited after I've properly cancelled a service. Again, I got the money back, but I had to do without it until it was refunded.
I no longer use my debit cards at all. I just make sure my credit card statements are correct every month, rather than worry daily if the cash I have in the bank is still in the bank...seems easier on the nerves!
