AMEX authorized user

a family member added me a few days ago to their AMEX

he has a credit score in the upper 700's

My report has 8 collections/chargeoffs

with a median score of about 530

What will this AMEX do for my credit score once it reports? the person who added me, my father, has stellar credit

Thanks

Re: AMEX authorized user

The credit of the person who added you is their credit and will have no impact on your credit.

The only thing that will impact your credit is the TL that you were added as a AU on.

As far as how it will impact you, that varies.

Do you have any other revolving credit? How old is the account? Will it change your AAoA drastically? What is the util on this AU account? What is your util now? What will your util be after the AU account reports? Is there anything negative on the AU account?

As you can see, there are many variables that must be considered, probably more than what I listed. Even if you were to know all the answers to those listed, very unlikely that one could accurately predict the impact the AU account will have.

Re: AMEX authorized user

i have no revolving credit because I have not been able to be approved for anything...after years of applying I finally was approved for a FP ughhh i know, temporary....

the AMEX has no lates or anything..my father pays it in full everytime he added me to it with the hopes tthat it would help my credit...my father repaired his credit from a 450 to about 750, with no more negatives showing...his AMEX is splendid not one late fee, that is why I am hoping it will look good for me and maybe make me eligible for other cards
