I had an old Medical Collection for $30 from last December showing on my reports. I knew the debt was mine, so I paid the OC directly. Never even contacted the CA.
In a letter that I sent to the CRAs earlier this week, I disputed this collection, as well as some other tradelines.
It is now after the fact and I realize that I should have used a HIPAA letter....did I blow it?
anyone? Thanks!
Was it reporting $0?
The best practice would have been to either follow the HIPAA process or send a DV followed up with a PFD if you agree. BTW, the HIPAA process starts by paying the OC directly anyway.
No, it was still showing a balance of $30. I just paid the OC directly a few days ago so it should be showing a $0 balance soon. I was hoping that since I paid the OC directly, that the collection would be deleted, but we shall see. If it is not, what are the appropriate steps to have it removed?
Thanks in advance!
