Hi, first time posting here. I've just been reading for a while. I have a repossession from Santander from back in 2010. The statute of limitations is Mississippi is 3 years so I'm beyond that. I'm in a much better place now and want to contact them and try to settle the debt and try to get them to remove it from my credit report after.
How can I go about this without restarting the statute of limitaions? What can I do to not restart the clock?
I don't want to just ride it out and wait 3 more years. I want to settle it, but not for the full price. They say I owe over $8,000
Words of advice???

The SOL cannot be reset by just making an offer, it takes a new promise to pay in writing in some states and in others nothing restarts it. In fact I believe MS is the only other state besides WI where the debt is extinguished once SOL is met, this means no CAs or the OC can ever attempt to collect. So I would make your PFD offers and if they wont accept just wait the 7-7.5 yrs from the DOFD for it to become excluded. Welcome to the board
