I think you can see in my siggy that I was recently discharge from a chapter 13 in June. I've worked hard to bring my scores up. they are between 650-692 on myfico. I went to purchase a new car and trade my 2007 jeep in. I was so nervous. Nervous to have people judge me and nervous I'd have an insane interest rate. I started with an online acura financing pre-approval and I was approved, but you have to get your interest rate at the dealer. I used edmunds.com to get internet quotes and called the dealership that had the lowest quote. Luckily, I happened to know someone that worked there, so I called the finance manager to explain my situation and that I was nervous to have a high interest rate AND I really didn't want him to know anything about my business. She thought 8% would be the worst case senario, but most likely she'd get lower based on my story. So, they honored the internet quote, gave me $2k more for my jeep than I expected and I got a 1.9% interest rate!!!! That's their top tier special this month. The credit score she pulled was 705 and I put down the $12,000 from my trade-in. I just can't be any happier. I've gone through so much in the last 10 years, it feels good to know I'm digging out!!!
