More good news today. I had recently been preapproved for an auto refi with DCU, completed my paperwork today and lowered my interest by 5%. DCU pulled EQ 688 for my score. I only waited 4 months into the original loan before getting angry enough with the principal/interest ratio and applying to refinance.
Previous lender: Wells Fargo Dealer Services
Previous interest rate: 6.99%
Refi lender: DCU
New interest rate: 1.74% (with direct deposit)
Also approved for their CC with a $7,500 SL.
I asked... did some poking around on the forums here and saw that was a common route to take. The loan officer confirmed they will be using the existing HP so no extra inquiries added ![]()
Thank them for the credit card approval but ask for a higher limit with some sort of reasoning such as "I always pay in full. I have some home improvement coming up and i would like to use your card exclusively. If you could grant me $20,000, i will use the DCU card exclusively." They will use your existing HP. I did the same thing and got a counter of $15,000.

Congrats! I did the same thing last week,, just curious, what APR did they give you on your CC?
They actually asked me what to do for starting SL - my existing highest is only 10.5 so I didn't want to push too hard. Didn't realize they would counter. Ah well. Are they good about CLIs/auto CLIs down the road?
I got the Rewards card, at 11.25% APR. I probably could have gone the standard card route for lower APR but I tend to PIF every month and really like rewards cards ![]()
By the way your sig is killing me. What a cutie!
Thanks. I spoil her so much but shes a good lil pup.
Trust me, it doesn't hurt to push a little. I doubt they will rescind their original offer even if they decline the CLI. After all, they're here to make money. Tell them my other card has a $10.5 CL, but for me to be exclusive to you, i need $20k... or make up something like that. You don't want to leave money on the table.
You weren't a member before right? By doing direct deposir they offered you 1.74? That's a great rate. Should put at least $100/month back in your pcoket. That's a lot over the course of the loan.
