Any Advice (Hyundai)

Hello all!

The rundown: all scores around 650, all auto scores around 680. My scores are in a rebuilding phase only because of medical bills that I was able to recently pay, clear and get removed (yay!). I currently still owe 8k on a hyundai vehicle financed at 0% over 60 mos (Thanks to my sweet mom who cosigned in 2013).

I would like to get into another hyundai vehicle, I need to really my kids don't fit in my dang veloster anymore. I'm looking at spending around 34K by the time it's all said and done. I am also not entirely certain I should trade in my veloster since I can easily swing both payments as long as I get approved. I am nervous about getting approved though, I don't know why really- I have no late payments on my auto loan.

I have been super stressed through the buying process and all the dealers are feeding me lines. I'm really tired of talking to any of them at this point and I haven't yet let any of them run my credit. I don't plan to do so until I am 100% certain of my plan. Any thoughts, advice, etc.? Help me get my head straight! Smiley Happy

Update: Just got approved through penfed for the vehicle I want, terms I want and a decent APR all things considered. I can't seem to decide whether or not to trade in the dang veloster. I always just feel bad giving up a car. My dad was always of the mind that you pay a car off and keep it- it always comes in handy.

Re: Any Advice (Hyundai)

Try not to be emotional related to autos.

1. You can only drive 1 car at a time. (Sure one could break, but how much is a week long rental while they fix it?)

2. You will have to insure and maintain both

3. Are you debt free? Otherwise, the money saved by trade in could be applied toward debt.

4. Save on sales tax. Usually the trade in is deducted from the new car and you only pay sales tax on the difference.

Completely up to you, just a few points to think about
