I'm in the process of rebuilding my credit... I've been a customer of Armed Forces Bank now for a few months, have a secured credit card through them, and am overall very pleased with them.... My score is currently 500 (though I'm hoping to have some stuff drop off in the near future, if I successfully PFD on a few items...
Anyway, I'm looking to get a car in about 2 or 3 months. Does anyone have any experience or insight on the ability to get approved through Armed Forces Bank (or Academy Bank, same company)? Anything they specifically look for, that I might be sure to have covered before applying?
Your best bet is probably to go into the branch or call them and ask them what their minimum standards are. If your FICO score is at 500 then it may be awhile before you are truly able to qualify for an auto loan. They are probably going to need to see more than 6 months or so of history with their secured card before they go too far. If you are eligible to join Navy Federal Credit Union you may also want to set up accounts with them, They are well known for being generous in helping to establish or reestablish credit.
If you are employed do you have direct deposit going to the account so that they can see your income directly?
