Applying for Auto Loan

I would like to apply for an auto loan. I'm on F-1 visa which expires in 2 years but I can renew that as long as I'm going to school. But I was able to get a SSN during my coop class and started to use a credit card from B of A. My score isn't that higher though, it was 640 the last time I checked. So here are my questions. Would it make a different if I have my boyfriend (a US citizen) co-sign with me, rather than applying by myself? And wit my score, do you think we will be getting a high interest rate? Or should I wait until I can improve my score? Please give me some advices guys. Thank you so much!

Re: Applying for Auto Loan

Buy a car that you can afford without a loan. Asking a significant other to Co-sign or really anyone for that matter is a hot mess and opens the door for trouble. Not to mention he would be crazy to cosign for someone who has little assets and could up and leave for their home country (not saying you would do this). Have you tried the cap one prequal, also check carvana they will soft pull your score and tell you what your interest rate will be.

Re: Applying for Auto Loan

Thank you for the advice. I didn't apply with capital one. Only with B of A, as I thought it is my bank you know, but didn't get approve
