Auto Loan - What scoring model is this?

As I've stated in a prior thread, as part of my loan app process, I was denied by 2 banks and approved by 3 that I know of.  So yesterday in the mail I received one of the official denial letters and it stated my score was 679 and "scores range from a low of 250 to a high of 843".  Never heard of a scoring model that runs those ranges.  They said they got their info from Equifax if it makes a difference.  Just curious if anyone knows.

Re: Auto Loan - What scoring model is this?

This is most likely an "Auto-Enhanced Fico" which we as consumers are unable to get until after we let a dealer pull them!

Not sure if this is typical Auto-Enhanced Fico but I know personally I feel this letter being sent to consumers if denied that is required now as part of the credit law falls short a little. It should have required FICO scores only.

I got one with a score range of like 320-1200 or something crazy... I don't know how that is suppose to help me in ANY area of working on credit or understanding the denial!

CreditAddict i agree it should be one FICO score and not all over the place with different scores!

Which CRA?

I can't imagine why it would help anything or anybody if a business had to use the wrong product for their credit qualifications.

It sounds like whoever your creditor is uses their own " in house" scoring system and not the FICO score.
