Auto loan approval

I've been working on improving my scores since the Feb mostly because we were broadsided and our paid off family vehicle was totaled. We have been sharing a vehicle since the car rental from the insurance company ran out. Fortunately I have managed to bump my scores by 60-80 points by paying down cc balances and disputing some old derogatories. I still have several late payments, a paid tax lien, and paid medical collections showing on my CR's which will all age off in approx. a year.

My current fico 8 scores are:

TU-683

EQ-672

EX-655

I know we will need to get a vehicle before the remaining derogatories age off and I have been preapproved thru capital one auto navigator for a 40K loan with only 1K down  with a new vehicle interest rate range from 4-5% and a used rate from 6-7% depending on vehicle. My question is with my scores is it worth it let the dealership shop my app to other lenders for a possible lower interest rate or  save myself the additional inquiries and just use Capital One. Not sure with my current scores if I would qualify for anything lower. I was honestly thrilled with the rate they offered considering the amount of dirt remaining on my reports. Thanks for any info.

Re: Auto loan approval

I used cap one and it was no bs and painless.

The only thing I do not like is that you can not make payments more than 30 days early.

Yes, it is simple interest.

Yes, you can pay extra towards principle.

I am used to getting "ahead" on payments and Cap One doesnt do that.

I got 2.49% for 72 months with my score under 700 but I did run $80k through my cap one cards last year.

Rebuild started in 2014  -  $100k unsecured credit in 2017  -  $500k unsecured credit in 2024.

Capital one worked great for us. 2 Day's after ch13 DC .  Scores were in around 620 at the time. We bought a CPO SUV and got 3.49% @72mo's ,

BTW .. the dealer ran credit {without me knowing]  and could not come close.  And we bought out of state.   I would definitely use again.

I hate it when those scumbags do stuff like that.

I told my salesman not to run my credit for anyone else.

He knew I would out if he did.  He didn't.  Smiley Wink
