Has anyone ever got a auto loan before final discharge from trustee. It has been a long 5 yrs of chapter 13. My car has been on its last leg for over a year. I got the intital paper form trustee that said I have completed my payments, but final discharge is 90 to 145 days away. I really dont think my car will last that long. Would like to try to get a used car ~ 28 to 30,000 range. My current scores are in the 630's. Never been late only thing on credit report is the Chapter 13.

Until you actually receive the discharge in hand, you have to get trustee approval for new debt/credit. Do you want to go through all of that now rather than waiting until you get your discharge?
That. ^
Trustee approval is required until you are discharged.
That said, if you get trustee approval, there are companies that will lend to you. A prior poster reported that his father got approved by the dealer for ~18%. But I guess he also applied through his banker at BofA, where he had checking, savings, and a secured card (not a lot of money in checking and savings), and got approved for a ~3% loan while still in CH 13 BK. Could be worth a try. Worst case, after discharge, it should be decently easy to refi as long as you don't over pay for the car (try to keep loan amount under NADA Clean Retail).
