Re: Best Credit Union for Auto Loan

I checked the DCU website and apparently I'm not eligible because I'm a Texas resident.  My EQ score is the highest at 626.  Any other credit unions?  I was thinking about USAA but I don't want to apply until I am fairly sure since my score will go down.  Smart Financial had told me my scores would qualify me but when I told them how I'm paid they said no.  I wish I could find the phone number to the guy I was talking to because I'm certain I told him how I"m paid.  I don't know what difference that makes as long as I have an income but I guess it does.  There are a few in my area, Shell, ECU, First Service, and Southwest Financial if anyone has heard of them or have any info.

Thanks

Oh, and yes I just went over 30 days.  Chase won't do any favors, I've been wanting to get away from them.  I have my checking, savings, mortgage, and auto loan with them and they are never willing to help me out.  This will be my third time to go over 30 days and I've have the loan almost 4 years.

Re: Best Credit Union for Auto Loan

I may be wrong but I think that even in Texas you can join.  You just have to become a member of an organization that is involved with DCU.  It costs like $10 to join that then you can join DCU.  I just did it and I don't live anywhere near a DCU branch or state for that matter.

All are involved in a subprime auto loan pilot program

640-660/670 is non-prime, 670+ is prime, 700+ is good to excellent.

Re: Best Credit Union for Auto Loan

That's great!  Which organization was it or do they have a list?  I'm a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and a recent graduate from Sam Houston State University (now an anlumni) but I'm having a hard time finding any credit unions for those memberships.  I need to do something by tomorrow because my credit is going to take a hit if I don't find a way to pay my mortgage and get rid of my car loan.

I'm an injured employee and have been on worker's compensation since 2009 getting checks every month from them.  However, they are disputing my eligibility for this past quarter so I  won't be getting paid at all for up to 3 months unless I can get a lawyer or Texas Department of Insurance to speed it up.  I'll get it because I didn't do anything not to but its going to take some time.  Time I don't have.  I'll need to see about a personal loan to pay bills until I get my money from them but I have to do it right away.  I'm about to go over 30 days late on my house payment and that will be a disaster.

There must be some way I can get a 2-3 thousand dollar loan and trade or refi my car but tomorrow is the last day of the year.  I have to find a CU that can get it done in that amount of time.

If I can get around the membership issue does anyone know how quickly DSU will approve?  Everything I own is at risk over this mix up with worker's comp and I can't let that happen.  Oh, and if this isn't bad enough, I just learned my son is addicted to heroin.  I'm about to lose my mind.  Any advise anyone can offer, please do.  I have disconnect notices, overdrawn at the bank (somethiing that has never happened) and don't know if I'll be able to stop any of it unless I get a loan.

Thanks to all who replied.

Re: Best Credit Union for Auto Loan

First check if you were delayed beyond 30 days because that’s when it’s reported to credit bureaus. There are many Federal Credit Unions in Texas who can provide car loans based on your credit history in Texas.

Re: Best Credit Union for Auto Loan

I just got a pre-approval from DCU for 40K @ 1.49 for 65 months.

I pulled an app from them a few weeks back because I turned down the seller after more information was revealed. (He was hiding details)

So, they musta said, well we pulled credit already, here's a pre-approval.

They are making my buy finger jittery Smiley Wink

@I can definitely relate...I thought I found the car I wanted so I got approved for a DCU loan for 35K @ 1.49 for up to 65 months.  But of course it didn't have an option I have to have so it's a deal breaker.  And my 30 days is up on the 23rd.  Good luck to you finding what you want...I hope to do the same.  But I've already made up my mind if I don't, I'll just re-app when I do find it.
