Are sites like Lending Tree the best way to go with rate shopping for an auto loan, or would you suggest contacting individual lenders?

Sites like Lending Tree are a lead generating site for lenders. You get tons of hard pulls on your credit.
It is far better to contact a credit union to get your loan. What are your scores?
Right now
Ex 695
EQ: 741
TU: 695 (ish?) but has something falling off later this month so will go down
Are these FICO from here?
How is your income and DTI?
Looks like you would be fine for many CU's based on your scores.
Go to CUs (if you're already using one, try that first), and apply there directly. If these are true FICO scores, you'll have no probs getting approved for great rates (other things that would factor in would be your income and DTI of course).
I second the income and DTI question. Also how much car do you want?
Given your EQ score, start with DCU (provided income, DTI, and car all make sense).
