No issue with car loans.  But remember the finance guy will use whatever he can to make you or your Mother take a higher priced loan. Just keep in mind that whatever rate they quote you (the dealership) is negotiable.

Before they run any inquiries on your credit, ask which banks/finance companies they will be checking, then request that they only try to get financing through between one to three banks/finance companies. Hopefully they can get you financed. I made this request when I purchased my car earlier this month, I didn't want numerous inquiries on my report just in case I couldn't get financed by that dealership and had to go elsewhere.  Also know what your credit score is. Once they submitted my application for financing, the salesperson  came back  and asked if I could get a co-signer, I told them no and then prepared to leave, they then came back and informed me that I was approved by the second bank that they had submitted my application to. A few days later when I checked my credit report, only two inquiries showed up on my credit report. Believe me, the dealerships want your business, but don't let them take advantage of you.

You can also go to your bank and see if they will prequalify you for an auto loan. This way you'll only aquire 1 HP instead of the several when the dealership shops you around.  I find that when I do this I have more leverage in a purchase price for the car as well. It's like walking into a dealership with cash in hand.
