I recently test drove a 2011 mazda 3i sport at a mazda dealership in NC. They offered me what I believed was a good sales price of $16,627. I applied for financing and I have a 617 auto credit score (what they called marginal credit) I have a trade in that I owe $1100 on and the dealership was offering 700. I do not have a down payment and when I told the salesperson that I would not be putting any money down, that 's when it all went south. The saleperson said that he would have to run this by the finance manager who is out and will be back on Monday. Today is Tuesday and I have not heard anything from them. What does this mean?
I would go back to the dealership and ask what's going on... or track down a number for Mazda credit and see if they have approved it yet.
Nissan will go down to the 600's for special financing usually... I thought Mazda did also.
I don't really like a sales associate to start telling me about what is good for credit or not and what will or won't make a deal... Im not saying he might not have some knowledge or experience possibly but I really want to talk to a finance manager if I know it's going to be close because of credit issues.
Its been a long time but back when I was 19 I tried to buy a brand new Jetta (I had gone to a dealership previously but had walked away from the thought for a few months so ended up at this other dealership. The sales associate was kind of rude through the whole process and had made a couple comments before my application was even submitted that I was to young to be able to get this on my own and I would not have enough credit... after about an hour he told me VW would not lease the car to me.
I hopped myself over to the previous dealership and not only applied for the 25k fully loaded jetta (the other dealership was a 21k jetta)... inatially had a little trouble but finance guy did some talking with VW and BOOM Approved for the lease and out the door I went. I had no idea about scores, credit, history or anything back then I just knew I had a LOT of credit and it was all paid so how bad could it be besides the 90 inq!!! lol
anyway, sorry to get off topic a little but the point is if a sales associate takes a judgement on your credit before talking to finance person or before it's submitted to the bank or banks... then I would take myself over to another dealership, find the same car, tell them you had this price over here, you have this credit score, you have this trade in, and no money down, you want to try to make this happen or should I go elsewhere!!
