Just a little history. I am currently in the middle of rebuilding my credit (I have most of my baddies off). My scores started out at the beginning of the year in the low 500s/high 400s. Im currently in the high 500s/low 600s. I have 5 credit cards with ehhh UTI but nothing late or past due or anything on them since I started. I make about 2500 a month after taxes, pay 420 a month in rent and have a car payment of my own (473 a month) and some student loans (currently not paying on until after the 1st of the year when they are required to be again) in the amount of 86k. I was pre qualified today and submitted my income for verification with Capital One Auto Navigator and they approved my income as well. (I also make 800-1200 a month on the side via online sales but thats harder to quantify).
I had a lot of late car payments up until the beginning of the year and have been making my payments on time for about 6 months.
What should I worry about when I go to a dealer ship with this pre-qualify offer? Im looking to trade in my vehicle as well (I am about 1500 upside down on it)
@Anonymous I would suggest paying your credit cards down to AZEO. and make some additional payments towards your prinicpal to get rid of negative equity. Unless you immediately need a new car. I would wait at least a year since your last late.
If Cap One prequalified you, you should be fine.
Easiest car purchased I ever made.
DON'T WORK FOR CREDIT CARDS ... MAKE CREDIT CARDS WORK FOR YOU!
When you pull the trigger, be prepared to have your salesman/woman push their lenders on you instead of using Capital one. Maybe they can get you a better deal or maybe not. In my case I left with a new car using Capital one but also left with way more hard inquiries than I wanted.
We tried to get a new car a few months back but the dealership wanted a high down payment which we just couldn't afford. Then I got the email about this and decided to try again with Capital One backing me.
