Car buying options with mid 630 score?

So I plan on getting a car next week (not sure if Black Friday will give good deals but will be going hunting then). Im trying to decide on my options at this point. I was looking at Used SUV's 2019-2020 but also see there are alot of good deals on new SUVs like volkswagen 0%/72 and GM .96%/60 new. Ive been living out the country for some time so no new credit. Last vehicle I had was a Tundra financed through SETF (southeast Toyota fianance) all paid on time but sold in 2018. Though my scores are lower now mainly lack of revolving credit. Scores are currenting at Fico 8 EX 633, EQ 629, TU 627 with Auto scores at 660. No collections, no charge offs, 3 late payments in 2018 but thats it. I am an AU on 2 credit cards as well.

I just joined Navy Fed a few weeks ago and will try a used auto loan with them. Used vehicle im looking at is VW Atlas which is $27-30k. If I do a new vehicle I might go with a Silverado if price is right. I also have been a member  with Penfed since September so I will apply to both CU's probably Tuesday. I also did have a loan with ALLY from 2007-2012 all loans paid on time. I tried Cap Auto Nav pre-approval it says Ineed to call them for verification, probably because I'm still out of the country (coming back Sunday).

What are my chances of getting a decent loan for that amount with my current scores? Also do I have any chances for a New loan possible? Any other options or suggestions? I really appreciate the help everyone!

665 score with navy and was at 7.89% for 84 mo on new......refi with pen fed for 4% with 739 score just this month

used will be higher rate than new.....mine was under 7500 miles on refi so still considered new

compare and pick lowest rate

trucks are at premium right now......wait a few months......i can sell mine right now for almost what i paid and used prices are thru the roof

Re: Car buying options with mid 630 score?

My tip - know all your scores for every version and find a bank that uses your highest score.

I know my 2 credit unions pull your mortgage score DCU - Equifax and Visions - Experian.

When I got my last car loan in September my lowest auto score was about 60 points lower than my Experian Mortgage score so I went with Visions and got their best rate around 4.25% for 7 years.

Had I gone with dealer financing, Capital One or others I could have ended up paying much more.

Mortgage scores are over 700 (around 712). Didn't know DCU pulled mortgage scores for auto loans. That's interesting I'll have yo look into that.

To be clear DCU pulls 1 mortgage score you Equifax Mortgage score.

if that's over 700 you will get one of their best rates if not their best rate.

Of course YMMV they could deny for other reasons like recent lates, < 2 years post filing for bankruptcy, income.....

I actually submitted an application for membership today. Its currently in review. After submitting my SSN and info they also pre-approved me for $30k on a car loan and $5k credit card with them. I added the auto loan to my application but not the credit card as im not interested. We'll see what they say.

My Equifax Mortgage score is 720. I had a 3 late payments in mid 2018 but nothing since. No bankrupcies .

Take the DCU credit card- why not its usually below 10% and you can easily transfer in and out of checking as needed.

I'll have to look into the card more first. If its theres no anual fee then I might go for it. I see the hard pull they did on EQ for mortgage. I'll wait to see what they say about membership and the auto loan.
