While doing my quarterly "what is the cheapest car" check, I've run across some Mitsubishi Mirage ES marketed at 8500-9000. Its been a while since I've seen a car sub 10k even after we add in taxes, so I thought I would share. Probably can't take much off of that price in negotiations, but might be worth checking with USAA's car buying tool to see if there is any play.
I've never driven one, but expect a slow ride from the 78hp 3 cylinder engine. Should get MPG in the high 30s to low 40s though. Comes as a hatchback, so plenty of room.
Note: I do not sell cars, just trying to help out those among us who need to meet the fine balance of affordable and reliable.
Used Honda Civic or Toyota Corolla.
reviews are not so good. and I dont think the track record is good for that brand.
I would say if it is baby'ed and such might get a good one, might not.
Dont have anything against them as even I took a quick look at the brand for
being the cheapest about 5+ years ago.
I think it is more of a...you get what you pay for, but also YMMV
+1 on a toyota...new or used.
