Consumers Credit Union (IL) Refinance?

I am planning on refinancing with CCCU. Wondering what the process is like? Do they pay the lender directly and figure out the title situation/transfer?

I ask because it seems like everyone does things differently. Penfed literally sent me a check in the mail and thats it. I received title from my first financing institution and held it since.

You answered your own question. Every lender does do things differently. Many lenders will payoff the prior bank directly and take title. Others will not. Perhaps Penfed called it an auto loan to you, but writes it as an unsecured personal loan on the books and therefore not needing title. 

The best way to find out CCCU's process is by calling them directly. Because most will not be familiar with smaller local credit unions. Some CUs are popular on these forums though.
