DCU Auto Loan Refinance Application Timeline???

I applied over the phone on Monday July 19 around noon PT, not a member yet, for an auto loan refinance with DCU.  She pulled my credit while on the phone and complimented me on managing my credit so well as my score should be mid 700's with multiple paid-off auto loans all the way up to $96k.  She gave me a rate and term and said to look for an email to continue the process of becoming a member, uploading my docs, etc.  It is now around noon PT on Thursday and I haven't gotten an email yet.  I even confirmed the spelling of my email with her before we got off the phone and it was spot on.  I just tried to call and for the loan department it said a wait time of between 2 hours 20 minutes and 3 hours 37 minutes!  Holy Cow!  I waited on hold for 20 minutes to try and see if they were just using scare tactics and then gave up, they must be serious.  Anyone else have a similar experience or can give a timeline of their application from start to finish with DCU?  Thank you.

Re: DCU Auto Loan Refinance Application Timeline???

They can be slow, but I haven't ever waited that long on anything. I'd reach out to them. Good luck!

Re: DCU Auto Loan Refinance Application Timeline???

I recently (last week) went through something similar; not a refinance but a new auto loan.  The wait time is very long! I am in California and called them at 4:50am to get in "line" because i knew it would be a long wait. My first call I was on a 3 hour hold.  Second call i got lucky it was just 10 mins but I had to call them back a third time and I was at 2 hours.  If they requested for you to upload documents, you are supposed to call them once you've done that. I was told I didn't have to call by the 2nd representative but that someone would call me.  I gave them a day and called back and the rep that helped me told me he was glad I called because i would've just been waiting.  I was scheduled to get my car on Monday, 7/19 so i needed everything done before delivery.  They are bombarded with new accounts and members.  Probably because their rates are so low.  But i would definitely try to find some time to call them or at least get in line where they can call you back.  Hope that helps and good luck!

Re: DCU Auto Loan Refinance Application Timeline???

Wow, thank you so much for the reply.  At least it makes me feel that my wait is the "norm" and that I should start calling them.  Obviously I'm not in the time crunch you were as my next car payment isn't due until August 2nd and I can afford to pay it no problem.  It would make me feel better to at least get the email so I can send in my docs for membership.  I'm in CA also, will get up early tomorrow and try to call.  Do you know the hours of the loan department?  Do you think I should try and get just anyone on the phone since I still need to become a member?  Squeaky wheel gets the grease!

Re: DCU Auto Loan Refinance Application Timeline???

They are open 8am est - 9pm M-F.  Sat 9am-3p est.  The time i only waited 10 mins was when i called on Saturday (so that may be an option for you?) but i'd definitely call, if you have the time.

Re: DCU Auto Loan Refinance Application Timeline???

So I call about 4pm and it says 20-30 minute hold time.  After 45 minutes, someone finally answers and then tells me that I won't be getting an email to setup membership like the loan rep told me on the phone Monday.  She said I have to go on the website and submit another app for membership and then I will get the email to upload docs, etc.  I can't believe that the loan rep on Monday didn't tell me that.  Anyone else experience something similar?  Total waste of 3 days.  I sure hope my experience with DCU going forward is much smoother than this.
