Not really credit related but before I sign loan papers and pick up my new car on Saturday I need to figure out the best extended warranty option.
2012 Subaru Outback - 5 yrs / 100 miles
The Subaru dealership extended warranty is currently quoting $1369 (down from $2500) with a $100 deductible... they may come down more.
The credit union who is financing my loan is quoting $1190 with no deductible through Mercury.
My car insurance company (USAA) is quoting $1132 with no deductible through Assurant.
I'm wondering if anyone has experience with any of these 3 since I've never owned a Subaru and am not familiar with either Mercury or Assurant.
Thanks!

Go with Mercury or Assurant. The Deductible isn't worth it! Especially since it costs more! I bought a car a couple of years ago and got my warranty through my CU (Mercury) used it to repair a power window and I was all see to go with no money out of my pocket! Great investment!

Just curious, what is the factory warranty that comes with this vehicle ? Also, assuming that you are financing this car, what %interst are you paying, you would need to look at this to understand the real cost of the extended warranty.

I'm not so much concerned with the cost as I am the reliability of the company. I've not found any positive reviews of either Mercury or Assurant... lots of complaints though.
Vehicle comes with 3 yrs 36k miles... I average 20k-25k miles per year.
Coverage under Subaru and Mercury look comparable except the Subaru policy specifies Subaru parts for any repairs... Assurant policy isn't clear.
I got the dealership to come down to a $0 deductible so I think that may be the route I take. The cheaper policy is attractive but going with the Subaru backed policy on a Subaru vehicle gives me more peace of mind. I have another day or so to research more though.
Cool!~
