I'm planning on buying my first new car early next year (January-March) depending on how I can raise my score a bit. I wanted some advice on the three cars that I am considering and the financing that people may have recently obtained. Here's what I am considering:
Ford Focus (I like the 2012 model which is out early next year)
Chevy Cruze
VW Jetta
I have a trade in that is estimating about 2K-2.5K on KBB and I will have an additional 4K cash to put down.
My current FICO scores are 652EQ and 645TU as of this month. I am paying down all my CCs down to 0 balances and I just recently made a 5K payment on my student loan so I expect to see at least a few points out of that. I do have a few negatives on my record that are all over 2 years old and paid off. I am fighting one of them to get it updated to the correct information so I may just have one bad account that was paid and closed a few years back.
Any experience with VW, Ford or Chevy's dealer financing with similar scores? If not, there are 3 local credit unions I would be eligible to use. I just want to do as much research as possible before I go into any dealer!
