Help! Low score and private seller

Hi folks,
I need some suggestions where to get a loan to buy a car from a friend. My score is between 570-620 depending on the type of score.
Most of the info ive read online states finding a lender for a private party seller is few and far between. I'll take anything you got!

Re: Help! Low score and private seller

If you can I would try USAA, call in instead of doing online application, they will call underwriting and explain situation if you ask. They may ask to see proof the collections have been paid. Otherwise I would try at a local credit union, they are usually more flexible than an big online lender would be. I can personally say the USAA process is great and super easy especially knowing the person is your friend. They mail cashiers check overnight once they recieve all the paperwork.

Re: Help! Low score and private seller

I'm not eligible for usaa, unless they give loans to civilians. I'm not directly related to anyone in the service.

I've tried golden 1 credit union, since i'm from california, but they denied me. I'm thinking about dcu, if not them, cap 1 sounds like they might approve me but I dont think they allow you to purchase from a private seller

Re: Help! Low score and private seller

If you are set on getting your friend's vehicle I believe it will be exponentially more difficult if possible at all. You don't want to get too many Hard INQs to find out either. If you are simply in the market for a vehicle, I would consider looking at Alliant Credit Union. Alot of the members on here have touted how easy it is to join, and they would be a good place to look at for rebuilding your credit again too. Anyone can join directly on their website for a small donation.
