This is probably a silly question, but I'm curious: how far back does the history on a FICO Auto go? I haven't bought a car from a dealer in about 14 years (I prefer used cars: pay it, drive it, done
). At that time, I diligently made payments on time every month (I think I even doubled-up some months) and then paid it off in full when I sold it (before the term was up). I'm wondering if that would even show up all these years later? Or would I be considered to not have an auto history?
Thanks.

I believe the Algorithm takes into account any information that is on your credit report, as long as it is legally permissable for the data to still remain on your credit report.
If the loan is no longer listed on your bureau, it is not being considered.
If you have a past history with a lender, they can keep that information, be it positive or negative-and make decisions based on that indefinately.
Thanks for answering; I don't see that loan on any credit reports, no. So my guess was right -- it was too long ago to show up (and possibly work to my advantage) now.
Thank you.
