I did something similar with CarMax and PenFed.

I REALLY liked the truck I was looking at but the "best" CarMax would was 10.9x%. So I gambled. Signed all the paperwork and left.

Almost 3 weeks to the day I woke up to the new loan hitting my credit reports. While standing at the bus stop with my kids, I did a PenFed refinance app and it was approved for 6.8%. I took it. I also cut off 6 months on the total term.

It got my foot in the door with them and it gets auto paid every month about 8-9 days before the due date.
