Inquiry for Nothing

I have a equifax 753 Transunion of 774 and experian of 765. I found a little toyota truck last week borrowed off my card to get remainder of what I needed. My banker said come on from Palmetto Bank in Abbeville SC we will do installment that will help put a second installment on your credit and help it. I went the next week I have all reports locked down. She ask me everything I owed but failed to calculate my debt to income based off what I told her. She acted as If unlock we are ready to finish up. Once she pulled she said wow I had no idea it would factor in your lease. Jane you been a banker 25 years what does that mean. It's means it throws your comps off i can't loan you the 5000. Jane please don't tell me you just did a hard inquiry on me and did not figure this first. She screams at me. How was I to know. You're a banker that's how it's addition then division. I called home office Trish said she could not fix it. This will blow 50-75 points off a score I've worked on 7 years. I plan to contact ceo next week and an attorney not just for this but the harassment this woman has put me through for 6 years. 17 year employee just quite because of her I called her to ask her why she left bank after this ordeal.
Palmetto Bank home office in Laurens, Sc and Greenville proves it not always good to deal with a small town bank. Truck is for sale to keep from carrying over 10% on 2 cards. I have no choice after this. I've learned after mortgage meltdown scores mean little income everything. Even head woman in Laurens told me 720 is all we need for good rates. Income and 720 will get you any mortgage.

Some comments:

Too many specific names. Edit to remove them / anonomize them.

10% on a credit card interest is not bad. When charging anything to a credit card, the basic agreement should be, this amount might be on this credit card for a very long time.

Are you sure your scores are going to drop 50+ points for an inquiry? Somehow I doubt it. An attorney seems a bit much for this incident, I'm not aware of anything they could do to restore FICO points.

Did you check with any other lenders, like a local Credit Union for other ways to migitate the interest cost? Other qualified lenders do exist.

Good luck!

Re: Inquiry for Nothing

Thanks for the response but yes with a hard inquiry and 4000 of a 9500 card used 1500 of a 4500 cl card used yes I know it will drop 50. Even Trish said you know your fico yes you are probably going to lose 50 points. The attorney is for the way this woman has screamed and talked to me for 6 years. I wish I had checked with credit Union because that is where my banking is going as soon as I can get payroll changed and automatic drafts changed over. Jane has been in banking for 25 years at Palmetto to not run the number before the pull I feel was vile. She is really that evil acting. The 17 year employee told me Jane was the main reason she left Palmetto Bank. I'm leaving as customer to a credit union next week. Any ideas or stick with a local credit Union ?

Re: Inquiry for Nothing

I do not claim to be an expert in this area, however I seriously doubt that you will lose 50 points, or anywhere near that, for one inquiry.

the loss of 40-50 points is probably a very close estimate for the new utilization but definitely not because of the inquiry...that would have been maybe 5 points

Re: Inquiry for Nothing

No crap ? I would have never guessed that. Like you said you're no expert. I've been coming here 6 years and run my credit scores daily I know what burns points trust me.

Re: Inquiry for Nothing

Is your question whether or not they had permissible purpose to do the inquiry, and thus whether they violatioed the FCRA?

Re: Inquiry for Nothing

First off you have no case for harassment.  If you can prove she denied your application because of one of the proscribed discriminations you could have a case.  Unfortunately that didn't happen.  She can scream all she wants at you for as many hours as you will let her and there isn't anything illegal about it.  Unless she called you at all ours of the night and followed you around screaming at you as you went about your daily business, you have no case for harassment.  If she made a mistake by not figuring your dti before running your bureau, she can't be sued.  She did nothing illegal.  However, before you bought the car, you might have asked what the dti requirements were and she likely would have told you.  That's why you get the approval in hand before you do something.

10% is a good used auto rate on a small balance.  But go apply for a good card with a zero % balance transfer and pay zero for the next 18 months on that card.  It will be better than any auto loan rate.

Finally, calm down.  You won't get anywhere acting like a raving mad man.  (which is how you're coming across in this thread)
