Good evening,
Had a situation pop up this afternoon and was wondering if anyone else had experienced the same problem. I'm financed thru Nuvell. Only have a few more payments to make. Earlier this week I received a letter from them telling me that I had a new account number and said that they were making changes, like payment options, payment address, etc. No big deal. Figured I'd check it out before making my next payment, but didn't seem that big of a deal.
Today, I received another letter from them telling me that my July car payment was never received. That was a real shocker considering I'd already checked my bank balance and had seen where it had cleared my account. I called the old number to speak with them and they referred me to the new number - well, at least I was able to check out the authenticity of the change over - and eventually was sent to "collections." I don't know about y'all, but having spent an awful long time pulling up my credit and getting my history clean, I really really resent even having to talk to "collections" when I haven't had a late payment on any account in years.
I don't know if the agent actually believed me or not, but I told her that I had the confirmation number (I always do a phone in payment on my debit card so it'll be taken out of my account immediately) of the transaction and I also have the bank statement where it was taken out. It was not late, it was actually withdrawn from my account a few days early.
It took me about five times to even get through to customer service because the line kept disconnecting - which led me to believe that they were probably getting a lot of calls. The woman I spoke with believes that in the transfer from one sest of data to the next (I don't know if the billing center changed, if the bank changed hands, or what caused the change over) my payment just failed to post on time and that it'll probably clear up in a few days. I'm supposed to call back on Tuesday.
I really got irritated when she told me that I didn't have to worry about it reporting to the credit agencies since it's only twelve days past due - and I told her it wasn't ANY days pass due.
I know that all I have to do is go to my credit union and have them fax a confirmation to Nuvell, but it really is irksome. Just wondered if anyone else was having a problem with them right now.
Thanks for the ear!
