More DCU vs Penfed Questions

Planning on a new car purchase in the next month or so, and a few of the things i've read are that DCU is pull happy, but i also read that if you apply for your auto loan first, theyll use that same pull for membership. Is that true? Or even possible?

Penfed uses the same pull for EVERYTHING for 90 days. Also true?

I read in a few forums if you qualify for penfed, you qualify for the best rate. True? If i'm accepted does that mean i could theorteically get a 1.99 interest rate on a new car? I dont know what my fico5 is at this moment, but i know a month ago i had it peaked at 651 and that was with my lates being 1.8 months ago(i'd have to imagine my lates aging to 2 years are gonna bump me up a bit, plus (12!!) inquiries falling off at the end of march/feb So i should qualify for (at max) 60 months 2.74, or 73, 3.74.

if true that you qualify for penfed, you qualify for the best rate no matter what then obviously Penfed would just be a no brainer regardless...

Even if you apply for an auto loan first with DCU, it will be two pulls with membership.

Re: More DCU vs Penfed Questions

Yes when you apply with Penfed, they do 1 pull to see if you're eligible, then whatever you apply for within penfed for the next 90 days will not result in anothe hard pull. They will automatically show what the APR is for the auto loan, at the same time they will show what credit cards you qualify for and each one's credit limit. You can decline whatever you don't want at that time, but you can change your mind later in the next 90 days. I'm not sure about the APR though, i got 1.49% but I'd imagine some people get higher APRs since their website does day not all applicants will qualify for the lowest rate and rate quotes assume excellent borrower credit history.

I do prefer Penfed over DCU since Penfed is a single hard pull and you don't need direct deposit to qualify for the lowest rate.

Hello,

Just to make sure I understand what I just read : )

I opened PenFed Ckng & Svng yesterday  (& thrifty service show's $500, not sure what that is I assumed overdraft)  and since they've already done a HP I can apply for other products and that will fall under initial HP as long as I do it within the next 90dys?

I didn't apply for anything cause I hv BK & public record (paid state tax lien) & 5 inquiries w/4 new accounts oldest 3m
