Hey all,
I was wondering how many times lenders can pull your report for a hard inquiry and it impact your score. I'm debating on going through my local credit union for auto financing in the next couple of days... but I don't want to then go to the dealership if I don't get the best rates through the CU and have them pull it. I guess my run-about question is... Between what time frame can you apply for the same type of loan, and it not impact your score more than one inquiry.
If you need me to clarify my question, let me know.
Thanks!
I'm giving this a gentle bump so that an expert can come along and give you the absolute correct answer.
I think all the inquiries count as one if done within 30 or 45 days. Keep in mind, however, they are counted as one only for FICO scoring purposes. If you apply for other credit in the future, they may count all those inquiries separately. Most creditors understand if it was done for auto financing, but you may need to do some explaining.
