Last night just before midnight I submitted an application with NFCU for an auto loan. Right before I did the app, I had an old collection fall off my report and my TU shot up 53 points. Which is raised all my TU scores compared to this past Saturday when they approved me for a GoRewards card.
The NFCU app said under review this morning when I checked and now around noon, it doesn't show any loan apps. Does this mean I'm denied? Thanks in advance.
edit: I do have one CO on my credit from 2019. File has been clean since Jan 2020 with all on time payments and two new CC's with Discover(Secured) & NFCU(unsecured). Current scores are TU-8 632 and TU-9 is 644.
I just received an email, reason stated was that " I do not meeting their lending criteria for approval".
Sorry for your Navy Auto Loan denial![]()

That sucks. Sorry to hear that
Here's a couple DP's for my Navy auto loan denial. I just got the letter's from Navy, so it looks like they used TU98 again I'm guessing. My score was 682 from Trans Union. "Scores range from 336-843"
Navy internal score is 328.
Key factors for Navy score:
-No open credit union accts reported in last 12 months
-number of revolving accounts
-Amount of non-mortgage account balances paid down in last 24 months
-utilization of revolving account credit lines in last 12 months
I've only been a member for a little over a month. I just got a GoRewards card with them and opened SSL(8.9%) with them after my denial. Going to garden for 6 months to a year and perhaps try again.
NFCU is good for auto loans but there are others that are just as good...and some would argue, probably better. If you're in the need toss a glance at PenFed and DCU. I've seen a few approvals lately from them whereas folks were getting denied or higher interest rates from Navy. Just something to consider if you're actually needing to move on an auto loan sooner rather than later.
