Re: NFCU Denied Me

I would bring some of the details of this chargeoff and other issues to the rebuilding forum, those folks have helped me tremendously.  I think the recent lates and the high utlization are killing you and the chargeoff is a major no no in their eyes.  I honestly think you will need to age those lates by at least a year, perhaps two before NFCU will touch you.  They are forgiving but all of the things you have going on are major signs that your in over your head so I don't see anyway they will want to take on more risk with you right now.   If that chargeoff is old I would probably leave it alone rather than paying it and pay off your credit card debt.  With those lates you will need to get your utilization down to around 30% before they will be interested.

Of course there are other lenders out there.  You could clean up things as best as possible over a couple of months and then work with a subprime lender and when you have things undercontrol and your scores have recovered you could refinance with NFCU at a much better rate.  That is what I did a few years ago.  They needed about a year between the lates before they would take me.

Re: NFCU Denied Me

Well, I sent over an auto loan application to MAC Federal Credit union in Alaska for 35K and was offered a counter of 20K. If I trade in my current car I'll still need to come off thousands just to clear this negative equity and then shop around for a newer car under or at $20K. It's a start and as much as I hate to let all of this cash go I just may need to.
