I actually looked at PenFed - their posted rates are actually almost a full point higher than NFCU's when it comes to late model used cars. PenFed has the edge for older model used cars though. I just applied for the preapproval this morning... I figured I'm already a Navy League member, so why not? Plus, I applied for the auto loan first, so hopefully that will be the HP coded as Auto, and that will be good for the membership and if I decide to go for one of their cards. Although I already have three new cards this year, so that may not be the best idea!
I put in a preapproval application to Landmark Credit Union as well. Their older model used car rates are in line with PenFed, and they already have my mortgage and money market, so there could be an APR advantage to that!
I'll see what NFCU's actual rate is when I get the paperwork (they said it went out yesterday). With my scores and income, I SHOULD get their prime rates, but who knows

I was pre-approved in February. They let me know how much I was pre-approved for and sent me a blank check that was good up to the approval amount. Told me to go to the dealership and negotiate without telling them I had secured financing already.
I'm now waiting for the "check to clear" so to speak. How long did it take you from the time the dealer deposited the Loan Draft before you were able to take delivery? My dealer deposited it on Wednesday night.
How long before the loan showed up in your online account?
I'm anxiously awaiting the money to show up in the dealer's account so I can drive home in my new truck. lol
