NFCU auto Financing and title

So I just financed my first car ever and it was through Navy. I received my promissory note/security agreement In the mail to sign and return which I did. But it also had a green envelope to send the title to them in. I haven't gotten a title yet and I asked the F&I guy about that and he said they would take care of that (the dealership) especially since they are a NFCU preferred dealer but the paper navy sent me said it was my responsibility to have them listed as the lien holder and to send them my title within 3 months or my loan would turn into a unsecured loan since they don't have proof of collertal.

Does the dealership really take care of this? Or do I have to do it and if I have to do will I receive the title in the mail or do I have to go to the DMV to get it to send it to Navy.

Thanks Everyone and Happy Easter.

Never heard of that.  Normally the dealership takes care of the paper work of sending the title to the bank and the bank will send it to you one you pay the vehicle off.

The dealer will take care of that. different states have different processes and I don't know if any would just hand you a title.

Re: NFCU auto Financing and title

Okay thank you both. I looked up my state and we are a title holding state (which means that the person, not the bank holds the title) only like 9 states are like that and I am in one of those states. I asked a few of my friends and they said that you get the title in the mail. So I have no clue. Thank you everyone

Re: NFCU auto Financing and title

I just found out that I will get a copy of the title in the mail and the bank will get the original from the dealership so as soon as I get my copy I was told to call the bank and to make sure they received the original. Thanks everyone again. This is def a learning experience.
